Description
The successful candidate in this position is responsible for analyzing potential trades, performing portfolio analytics and credit analysis, and assisting the Portfolio Manager in the development of the investment portfolio strategy to invest liquid funds. Resources to do the job require knowledge of credit and ability to interpret balance sheets. Position requires strong written and verbal communication skills.
Investment Portfolio: · Analyzes and assists in the development of the investment portfolio strategy. · Performs credit analysis on corporate securities -Determines the probability of default of the obligator · Performs credit analysis on municipal securities -Evaluates the soundness of a municipality’s budgetary position and stability of its tax revenues. · Performs credit analysis on mortgage securities -Understands the class or tranche and its relative position in the securitization structure. -Evaluates and understands the quality of the underwriting of the underlying collateral as well as any risk concentrations. -Analyzes and understands the impact of collateral deterioration on tranche performance. · Assists the Portfolio Manager in investing liquid funds. · Monitors cash balances. · Assists in the daily/monthly investment accounting function. · Analyzes investment portfolio for optimal risk/return. · Performs pre-trade analysis on securities. · Monitors regulatory and accounting issues that pertain to investments. · Maintains credit files. · Develops a comprehensive understanding of a securitization exposure · Maintains investment files. · Identifies, measures and understands investment risks. Monitors approved risk limits on the investment portfolio. Project Management: Assists in the creation and presentation of materials to senior management and board committee. Materials include credit reports, investment portfolio events and industry trends. Provides support for project work, as well as annual budget projections, quarterly forecasts and business plan preparation. Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics or Accounting (MBA preferred) and minimum two years of credit experience working in a financial institution; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and other MS Office products. Strong writing and presentation skills required. Experience with investment analytic software (Bloomberg or Yield Book) a plus.
