Description
Alliant Credit Union, the largest Credit Union in Illinois, is seeking a results-oriented manager to oversee and manage the operational accounting/reconciliation area of Accounting and Financial Reporting department. Work would involve managing and coordinating the workflow of the reconciliation team, working with other internal departments on reconciliation efforts and process improvements, automating processes, improving efficiency, establishing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure controls are in place and enforceable.
Responsibilities:
Proactively identifies and implements automation/technology interface opportunities for purposes of reconciling account activity. Includes working with other internal departments to maintain the integrity of the financial statements and processes affecting them, assisting with testing new products/initiatives that affect the account reconciliation processes.
Coordinates workflow and manages employees in the operational/reconciliation accounting area. Leads in the interview and selection process, and manages employee relations. Provides direct guidance and training to reconciliation team members.
Assists with external and internal audit activities which impact the operational/reconciliation accounting group, in addition to examinations by the NCUA, Illinois DFPR or other regulatory agency requests.
Continuously assesses accounting and reconciliation processes to improve efficiency through automation or consolidation of processes. Works with cross-functional peers to develop appropriate process improvement initiatives.
Provides support to Deputy Controller and AFR team with month end and year-end close processes. Ensures balance sheet is reported in compliance with GAAP, State and Corporate policy and procedures. Provides support in general ledger maintenance and efficiency.
Addresses escalated member issues and determine resolutions.
Leads and facilitates with support of Deputy Controller employee development and performance evaluations for the reconciliation team. Provides coaching and development for direct reports through performance management, consistent feedback and re-direction, and establishing and executing development plans.

Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA or CPA exam candidate (sitting for exam) highly desirable
5-8 Years
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
Experience working in a financial institution preferred
Thorough knowledge of GAAP required
Ability to multi-task, deal with heavy volume periods with tight time parameters
Experience with process improvement and process automation
Must possess strong analytical, people, written and oral communication skills, and be sound of moral character with above average judgmental capabilities. Proficient with generating and analyzing significant amounts of detail general ledger information. Strong data mining skills using core processing system tools. Ability to work effectively with associates at all levels within the organization
