Warehouse Lending Relationship Manager

The successful candidate in this position will serve as the primary partner contact for developing, growing, and retaining Warehouse Lending relationships for the credit union. Responsibility lies primarily in sourcing new Warehouse customers as well as being the credit union’s point-of-contact person for those customers.  As the incumbent is responsible for all aspects of Warehouse Lending, work requires mortgage and warehouse market knowledge and a demonstrated ability to develop and grow close relationships with customers as well as with Alliant’s internal partners to ensure customer relationships are maintained.  Resources to do the job require reliance on knowledge of the concepts, practices and procedures to approve warehouse lines to Mortgage Bankers as customers of the credit union.  General supervision is received from the VP Mortgage and Consumer Lending.

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES-

Relationship Management:

  • Assess new customer eligibility through market intelligence.
  • Develop strategic vision for Warehouse Lending program; maintain expert level understanding of market trends, industry best practices, and business developments required to ensure best in class program experience and delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to streamline and enhance processes to improve program features, outcomes, and overall service experience by the Warehouse customer.
  • Develop and negotiate terms, fees and pledge requirements and repurchase agreements with new customers as well as with current customers.
  • Present the completed credit package to the Business Lending Committee for approval.
  • Monitor the customer’s on-going credit and collateral performance.
  • Responsible for the department’s goals to ensure the highest desirable level of market share and profitability is achieved with existing customers.
  • Support cross-sell opportunities including Alliant’s correspondent lending channel. 

Credit Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Warehouse Lending Operation for the credit union. 
  • Ensure warehouse lending credit policies and procedures are in place and meet the Mission of the credit union.
  • Assume authority for loan level exception decisioning as delegated by VP of Mortgage and Consumer Lending.
  • Ongoing review of fraud mitigation tools used by customer with on-site due diligence.
  • Ongoing Portfolio Management with risk rating assessments and annual renewals.
  • Recommend periodic credit actions as required.

Operations Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all activities related to Warehouse Operations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of Operations Policies and Procedures, workflows and Customer Reference Guide.
  • Provide portfolio and loan level reporting to management.

Performance Management Responsibilities:

  • Apply great management practices in leading an engaged workforce as defined by Q12 Gallup process to effectively deliver the value of this function. Provide a structural and consistent approach to ensure that individual development plans are in place, performance management is consistent, performance management process is respected and followed, and coaching and feedback are provided on a regular and dynamic basis.

Requirements

Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field or equivalent work experience; minimum four to six years experience in a warehouse lending department as a Relationship Manager. Exceptional analytical skills with a strong understanding of the risk of lending to Mortgage Bankers. Must have previous experience establishing and maintaining relationships within mortgage industry. Experience in establishing relationships in the banking field and/or financial services preferred.  Excellent communication, relationship building, and presentation skills required. Must be proficient Experience working with internal and external cross functional teams. Computer proficiency utilizing MS Office Suite.
