At Alliant, we love giving back. Over a decade ago, we founded the civic affairs program, which organizes charitable initiatives designed to serve worthy causes and help the community. Each year, hundreds of enthusiastic Alliant employees dedicate their time and resources to help others.
Each year the Civic Affairs committee organizes charitable initiatives including:
A day full of fun includes a chili & hot dog lunch, raffle, and a chili cook-off. To participate, Alliant employees donate to raise money for Bears Care — a Chicago Bears charity that helps disadvantaged children and their families in the Chicago area.
The civic affairs committee regularly organizes food and clothing drives — leading to the donation of thousands of items each year! Alliant donates all food and clothing collected in these drives to Chicago residents in need.
Every year we host the Alliant Employee Volleyball Tournament and select a particular charity to support. Thousands of dollars are raised every year through Alliant employee donations and fundraising. Past charity participants have included the Red Cross, Special Olympics of Illinois, and more.
Working along the Alliant Foundation, Alliant is dedicated to making a difference in communities we do business in by promoting economic empowerment and self-sufficiency. In the last year, the Alliant Credit Union Foundation gave over $210,000 through philanthropy. It’s just one of the reasons why Alliant was recently recognized as a Great Place to Work.
Dedicated Alliant employees work with Operation HOPE to teach young students about financial topics they will need to know to succeed. To date, over 4000 students in the Chicago area public school system have taken these financial literacy classes.
Every year we award five scholarships of $2,000 to Alliant member who are attending an undergraduate program. To enter, students submit a statement of goals and an essay on “What Belonging to Alliant Credit Union Means to Me.”
Each year we award nine gift certificates totaling over $5,000 in value to help Alliant member students purchase a computer to use in their studies. To enter, a student from age 5-7 can use any format they like to describe what they want to be when they grow up and how a computer would enrich their education.
