The minimum balance to keep your savings account open is $5. To earn interest, you must maintain a daily average minimum balance of $100. Alliant interest is paid monthly.
The number of withdrawal transactions from savings accounts are limited by federal law.
The only difference is that a supplemental savings is an additional savings account. You can name each account based on your specific financial goals — saving up for a vacation, making a large purchase, etc. — allowing you to more easily track your progress toward that goal.
Supplemental Savings Accounts can be opened in just a few easy steps in Alliant Online Banking. These accounts, dedicated to a particular financial need (emergency fund, holiday gifts, weddings, vacations, etc.), are a great way to reach your savings goals.
To optimize your savings, set up automated recurring transfers to your new account. Just select Transfer Money and indicate the account you want the money transferred from.
Please note that while there is no minimum balance required to keep your account open, you need to maintain an average daily balance of $100 to be eligible for dividends on your account.

We just opened a savings account in order to transfer money on a monthly basis to a relative's account. We were able to do everything online from opening the account, funding it with cash from a different bank, transferring cash to our relative, and then setting up recurring transfers into our account and out to the relative's. I did make one call to customer service, and the representative was very nice and helpful. Great experience, love that we got this automated so fast and easy.
I've been a member for over 10 years. The 24 hr. customer service is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The savings account interest rates are among the highest. My money is protected by NCUA. II have access to ATMs everywhere and there are no ATM fees.
It has been easy to transfer money, But wish interest could go up and be as good as it was ten years ago. Thanks for your service

Phenomenal rate on a savings account with no minimum balance? I'm never banking with a bank again! When I tell people the rate I have they think I have a CD, I just say nope it's a savings account.
I've been an Alliant member for longer than I can remember. I've witnessed many changes and while they have kept pace with technology, they haven't changed their mission. I can transfer funds next day(when initiated from Alliant), withdraw/deposit from an ATM, deposit a check from my phone- try that with any other "online" bank. Their customer service is ALWAYS top notch. Don't let one (albeit major) faux pas shadow the consistent, reliable, easy-to-use service that is Alliant Credit Union.

I remember when Alliant was a leader with interest rates. Now Alliant is just like any other institution with rates like everybody else. I'm getting my money out of the there. I can't wait to here the reasons. Let me guess, we need to make money for the shareholders or were limited by law. Now you send an e-mail telling me I can get tax forms. I wasted 20 minutes on this bad web site and I wasn't able to get any forms.
I have been a member of Alliant since before it was Alliant (16 years) and have never had a problem that couldn't be solved quickly and easily (and those were few). My only wish is that transferring money from my account to bank were quicker. I believe many of those who aren't happy must be younger people used to all things happening in microminute time:)
Before I would go to Credit union and I would tell them " I would like to increase or decrease my saving" and that would be it. Now I look at this stupid website..... I dont know where to start. I just walk away. And not to forget , before I went on this website , I was in good mood.
