Tips to Safeguard Your Digital Credentials

Alliant Credit Union takes the security of member accounts very seriously and as such we use advanced security technology and techniques to safeguard our members’ personal information. That said, in light of the news this week that Russian Hackers have amassed some 1.2 billion internet usernames and passwords, we thought it would be a good time to review some best practices for safeguarding your own online credentials:

  • Do not use the same ID and Password across multiple sites
  • Do not enter your Alliant Online Banking credentials into any site other than Alliant Online Banking
  • Use strong passwords, for example a minimum of eight characters with a combination of letters and numbers, upper and lower case and symbols such as the exclamation mark
  • Use different passwords for all user accounts
  • Change your passwords often
  • Your passwords should be easy to remember, but difficult for others to guess
  • Never share passwords with anyone
  • Change passwords immediately if they may have been compromised
  • Ensure that any computers used to access your online banking accounts are free from viruses and malicious software
