I am not sure I understand the negative reviews because the only problem I have ever experienced was that it's always too easy, which is kinda frightening. The rate I'm paying on my 2011 used car is the same as it was advertised back when I bought it, 1.74%. and the loan took all of 10 minutes to get.
Was told 2.24%. All of a sudden, because it was a 2006 the rate went up to 5.24%. My credit score is 837 according to the loan consultant when he ran my credit. Disappointing. Also- really really poor job of getting back to me. After 2 days I had to call to speak to a manager.
This was the first time I've ever had to get auto financing so I didn't know what to expect but based on the reviews I felt as though I was going to get prompt service from Alliant. Unfortunately my loan officer was not communicative at all with me until it came time to close the loan. I got the approval email and then no response to my two phone calls and two emails prior to sending the buyer's order. By that time I was so frustrated with her lack of response to my emails and voicemail that I went with another company. Quite honestly, I had decided not to leave a review because I didn't actually receive any loan services but I did send my loan officer an email letting her know my reasons for going with another company. I was professional but honest in my response so I at least expected a professional response. All I received in return was a "Thanks" and that was it. I know they don't make money by answering my questions but because she couldn't take time to answer my questions she lost out on closing a loan. Had she responded in a professional way to my feedback the I never would have left a review. Never will I take a chance on an Alliant loan again because this first experience has left its mark.
I was approved for tesla special rate of 1.49% for model x. my delivery got delayed and alliant has to re-run the credit again. they re ran my credit and boom gave me rate of 4.49%. its only 3 days before my tesla delivery and i am feeling really helpless as alliant switched me up with such a higher rate.
Nothing changed in one month on credit then how come 1.49% becomes 4.49%. I thought only banks have this process of sucking money.I cant belive credit union do this switch and bait.
Please re-think 100 times before you go with alliant for your tesla purchase.
I've been a member for thirty years ,I don't have the best credit due to medical ,I figured if I saved enough for down payment which I did I would have a good chance,we'll I was wrong,don't understand being a long time member and always got their money when I had a previous cat loan through them.If I can't use their services ,what good is being a member,not to mention they get their money before you do.Thanks for not thinking of the less perfect credit people.
Over all I thought the representatives I spoke to were professional and helpful.
The website has no information about their conditions to purchase a used car. After 40 minutes on the phone, I discovered ALL their used car loans were only available for a car 9 yrs old and newer. There may be additional conditions but that was the one I needed to hear and moved on.

Initially I wrote a review when I was frustrated with the amount of time it was taking to process an auto loan. For that reason, and because of a mistake linking accounts, I give 4 instead of 5 stars.
I wanted to update that I received excellent customer service, and got the loan I was quoted at the rate I was quoted. I especially want to thank Brenita N., my loan officer, and Scott P., the manager who helped me; both were extremely kind and accommodating during the loan process. The benefit of going with a credit union over a traditional bank is the personal, caring service, and not merely a bank trying to hit you up with high interested rates. My experience during this car loan process was that the people at Alliant were there to help me, and to get the lowest possible rates for my individual situation. Their primary objective is facilitating the process of affordable lending, and not merely extracting a profit from you.
I highly recommend Alliant and their excellent team.
