Save Every Day: Reuse What You Can

July 18, 2012 | Alliant Credit Union

We all know buying bottles of water is wasteful, but do you realize how expensive it is? One refillable water bottle can be reused countless times, and save you tons of cash.

Reusing things will help you big-time in the long run and save you a few bucks here and there right now. Simple things like cloth napkins can save your pocketbook and the environment instead of buying paper napkins.

Recycle the water bottles you bought BEFORE you started using your own refillable bottle into a fun game for your children. We love these ideas from Babble.com:

Waterfall Water Wall: Get out all of your buckets, jars, cans and hoses for this waterfall.
DIY Plastic Bottle Sprinkler: Add a few holes to a recycled water bottle and you've got yourself a quick and easy sprinkler.

Soap dispensers are another great item you can reuse - buy liquid soap in bulk and refill the old dispenser with fresh soap every time it's empty.

Plastic bags always seem to collect in a corner of the kitchen, so it's great to find new ways to reuse them. Check out this great article on how to reuse those pesky plastic bags.

There are endless ways to reuse things in your home - we want to hear what you reuse! Tweet at us or write a post on our Facebook and share your tips and tricks. We will send a $10 Amazon gift card to socialites with our favorite ideas!
