To encourage our members to use Alliant Online Banking to manage their accounts and to pay their bills, Alliant offered members the opportunity to win one of three prizes in our "It pays to use Alliant's online Bill Pay" sweepstakes.

For each bill members paid with Alliant's Bill Pay from June 1, 2012, to July 31, 2012, they earned one free entry into our sweepstakes. Today, more than 100,000 members regularly use Alliant Online Banking.

Three lucky winners were randomly selected on August 6, 2012.

1ST PLACE - $1,000 ALLIANT SAVINGS DEPOSIT

Tim Krueger, of Salem, OR, says he's won three things in life: his career with United Airlines (he retired after 35 years as a pilot), his wife and now his Bill Pay sweepstakes prize. Tim started using Bill Pay in 2010. "I use Bill Pay all the time now," he says. "But, when I started, I was cautious and paid just a couple of bills for a couple of months to make sure the system works and is secure." Tim still flies - private jets, including a steady gig for his state senator - and he's building an RV-7 plane from a kit. Tim plans to use his winnings as part of a scholarship fund he's established in his wife's name to help college undergraduates continue to graduate school.

2ND PLACE - $500 ALLIANT SAVINGS DEPOSIT

Mark Franey, a United Airlines pilot, recently moved to the Houston, TX, area, after living for several years in Tokyo, Japan. "I can't imagine anyone who starts using Bill Pay to stop using it," he says. "It's just so more economical, quicker and easier than having to mail checks with envelopes and stamps. I rely on Alliant Online Banking to transfer money from my checking account to pay my Alliant credit card and I rely on Bill Pay every five days or so to pay my bills." Mark expects to put half of his winnings into savings and use the other half to help furnish his new house.

3RD PLACE - $250 ALLIANT SAVINGS DEPOSIT

Carl Bode, of Brighton, CO, is a pilot for Atlas Air. "I'm not really a techie. But, learning how to use Bill Pay was really easy for me, because my wife does it for us," Carl says. The Bodes have set up some of their reoccurring bills to be auto paid in Bill Pay. Otherwise, they log in to Bill Pay about once a week to pay their bills." An avid reader, camper and ATV rider, what will Carl do with his winnings? "I don't know, something fun," he says.
