Alliant Credit Union Foundation Launches Social Media Charity Campaign

"People voting on Facebook® will decide how we will award $40,000 in grants to several selected charities," stated Alliant Credit Union Foundation Board Chairman David W. Mooney, while discussing the Foundation's new "Make It Count" charity campaign. He explained that these votes will help determine each charity's grant amount.

Mr. Mooney, who is also president & CEO of Chicago based Alliant Credit Union, added, "Our Foundation was established by the credit union, with a mission to promote economic empowerment and self-sufficiency in people, especially those in communities where Alliant members and employees live and work. We're delighted to have our credit union members and others who are interested in charitable causes help us determine distribution of a significant portion of the approximately $200,000 we'll give to worthy causes this year. The charities being supported were submitted for consideration by employees of the credit union and selected based on their missions being in line with that of the Foundation."

According to Foundation Board Secretary Dorothy Skube, anyone can cast up to 3 votes, recommending one or more of the four selected charities. "Individual grant amounts will differ, with the charities receiving 1st through 4th place shares of the $40,000," added Ms. Skube, who is also corporate counsel of Alliant Credit Union.

Mr. Mooney mentioned, "We've placed the voting on Facebook to emphasize social media, a growing, viable communication channel for our Foundation and credit union."
