Tip Fifty-One
April 17, 2012
Spending your tax return wisely.
Before you spend your tax return all in one place only to regret it later, make a plan on how you're going to allocate it. Put a portion of it aside for a rainy day to help increase, or start, your emergency fund. Pay down some of your debt by putting towards your credit card balances - you can put it towards the card with the highest interest rate or the card with the lowest balance to pay it off faster. Contribute a portion toward a Traditional IRA or a Roth IRA. Invest in your career by allocating a portion to towards continuing your education by taking extra courses or obtaining certification in your current, or a new, field. Lastly, save a little to reward yourself for being so smart with your refund by spending a little on yourself. Get those new shoes, tablet or television you've been eyeing, or go away for the weekend to have fun and relax.
