Keep it cool.
As temperatures rise nationwide, AC units will begin to roar, keeping homes at a crisp temperature no matter what the outdoors are offering. Running your air conditioner can be costly in your home and vehicle. Keep costs down by making minor adjustments to stay cool.
While driving, keep your windows rolled down. Not running your AC full blast will save you at the gas pump. If you need to stay cooler than the wind will allow, turn the AC in your vehicle to a low setting on your feet - this keeps cool air circulating throughout your vehicle, not coming out the top vents and immediately escaping out the open windows.
In your home, equip the main living space with a large tower-style fan. This runs with minimal electricity and keeps the air circulating and cool. Move the same fan into the bedroom at night or run ceiling fans to keep the air moving on warm nights.
