Stick to the old budget.
Landed a promotion or received a bonus, congratulations! Now what are you going to do with the extra cash? Resist the urge to move to a larger place, add on debt or go on a spending spree. Instead, plan on sticking to your old budget and use that extra cash to increase your emergency fund or help reach other saving goals faster. Consider increasing contributions to your retirement account, paying down debt faster or increasing the amount you allocate towards your savings monthly.
