Tip Forty-Six
March 13, 2012
Take a week off from spending.
Take a week off from spending to get your overspending in check and get back in control of your spending. Pay for what you have to, such as groceries, bills and transportation, but for everything else, say no or look for free alternatives. Make all meals at home, bring your lunch to work and look for other ways that you can cut back your spending, such as taking public transportation to work instead of driving. Make a list of what you didn't buy and where you cut back to save and review it when your spending starts getting out of control as a reminder and encouragement that you are in control of your spending. Another way to help make this easier to think of every dollar you earn as an opportunity to be one step closer to obtaining your financial goals.
