Tip Seventy-Three

Stop and think before you start to buy.
Large purchases frequently require a lot of research and thought, but thinking purchases through doesn't have to be reserved for spending large sums.
Those magazines, packs of gum and bottles of soda at the cash register aren't coincidences. Retailers place items conveniently so consumers will grab them while waiting in line to make their purchases. The few dollars for each item adds up and before you know it, you've added $15 to your bill.
Next time you go shopping, stop and think before you start to buy! If you like that magazine, go home and order a subscription for it online or on your tablet. Step out of line and pick up a pack of gum so you are prepared with fresh breath for sudden meetings and buy a 12 pack of your favorite soda or beverage to cut costs. The price per unit is much lower when buying items in pre-packaged quantities rather than solo units.
