Ask for discounts.

When it comes to large purchases like appliances or a new vehicle, sticker prices seem overwhelming. Luckily, negotiation is commonly accepted among retailers for large-ticket item.

Before you go into a retailer for a large purchase, do you your research and see what discounts and rebates are available. Bringing it up in conversation will let the seller know you've done your homework.

Also, don't be afraid to ask, "Is this the best you can do?" before agreeing on a final purchase price. Sometimes retailers can throw in free delivery for appliances or free car washes with vehicle purchases. By asking the right questions, you can save a lot.
