Focus on the cost.
When shopping this holidays season, don't fall for the "but it's on sale" excuse by focusing on the cost of the item instead of the savings. Changing your focus will make the offer easier to resist and reduce the urge to buy. Next, just ask yourself if the cost fits your budget and you really need it. If you can honestly say yes to both questions, then you can purchase the item for yourself. If you can't answer, set the item down and walk away.
