Six Tips To Protect You From Debit Card Fraud

  1. If your card has a PIN (personal identification number), then memorize it. Do not write it on the card or carry it in your wallet.
  2. Avoid selecting easy-to-recognize PIN numbers, such as your birth date, Social Security Number or phone number.
  3. Routinely change the PIN for your debit card or ATM card.
  4. Monitor your accounts weekly to detect – and report – any unauthorized transactions.
  5. Use the “alerts” service on Alliant Online Banking and your other financial institutions so you can be notified when check or debit card transactions occur in your account. This will enable you to detect if any unauthorized transactions occur.
  6. Only carry the cards you intend to use. Leave the others at home in a safe place.
Please note: Alliant Credit Union will never initiate contact to solicit you for personal information, such as account number, credit/debit card numbers, passwords or PINs. Contact us immediately if you think unauthorized access or fraud has occurred in connection with your Alliant Credit Union accounts. 800-328-1935 (24/7).
