Alliant proudly celebrates United Airlines flight attendants

May 22, 2025 | Anne Purcell

May 31 marks International Flight Attendant Day, a day to honor the dedication and professionalism of flight attendants worldwide. On this day, Alliant is proud to join United and offer a first-class salute to the dedicated crew members for their commitment to ensuring passenger safety and comfort during travel.

What you’ll learn

The history of Alliant Credit Union and United Airlines

Alliant has a long-standing history with United Airlines, starting on October 26, 1935, when a small group of United Airlines employees organized the credit union. Initially formed as the United Airlines Employees’ Credit Union, the group took off and by year end grew to 146 members and $5,088 in assets (about $116,000 in 2024 dollars.)

While there have been many changes over the last nine decades, including Alliant Credit Union opening membership eligibility to a wider base in 2003, United Airlines has remained a pivotal part of Alliant’s identity, and our focus on United Airlines remains a priority—because taking care of the crew means ensuring smooth skies for all.

Today, over 35,000 flight attendants and their families are a part of Alliant Credit Union. And we are thrilled to continue to be a part of their financial journey.
