Chicago employees donate to local organization

June 12, 2015

Employees at Alliant headquarters in Chicago recently conducted their third annual shoe drive to benefit Stuff for the Poor (SFTP). Hundreds of gently used shoes for men, women and children were donated to the organization.

Alliant Real Estate Underwriter Janice Mitchell donated 17 pairs of shoes, gathered from her sister, mother and herself.

SFTP sells the shoes to support the educational needs of orphaned children in Africa. For every 800 used shoes donated, another child’s tuition can be funded. In addition to school tuition, donations also cover textbooks, supplies and uniforms, as well as room and board if necessary.

This shoe drive was sponsored by Silent-Angels, a fundraising organization devoted to giving back to the community. Alliant Loan Consultant Nicole Venerable organized Alliant’s shoe drive and is the founder and president of Silent-Angels.
