Alliant Cements Shift to Digital Banking with New Mobile App

11/29/2016

CHICAGO – Alliant Credit Union unveiled a new mobile app on Nov. 29 that further bolsters its transition from a traditional credit union to a digital-first credit union with superior mobile and online banking capabilities that reaches its national member base.

“The new Alliant Mobile App was created at the behest of our members, who wanted easier on-the-go banking,” said Michelle Spellerberg, Alliant Vice President of Digital and Marketing Strategy.  “Our members trust us to listen to their needs -- and that’s what we did. We incorporated their feedback to deliver a great online bank user experience that solves their real-life  problems.”

The new mobile and tablet app includes a variety of best-in-class features, including: fingerprint authentication, secure messaging within the app, the ability to see account balances before logging in, increased user customization and a built-in help guide.

Alliant chose the new app’s features after analyzing 30+ other financial apps, reviewed industry research to better understand marketplace trends, and extensively surveying Alliant members and those looking to switch financial institutions.

Spellerberg sees the new mobile app as just one chapter in Alliant’s digital-first story, which began last year with an overhaul of Alliant’s website to make it mobile-friendly and responsive and a foray into digital advertising..

So far, Alliant’s transition to digital has led to unparalleled success. Its membership numbers are peaking at previously unheard of levels, with the credit union surpassing its 2016 membership goals by more than 10 percent. Alliant now has over 335,000 members nationwide, making it one of the largest credit unions in the country.

“Our shift to digital banking is a change in thinking that mirrors both marketplace needs and, importantly, what our members need from Alliant,” she said. “Launching our new mobile app is a significant update, but one of many we’ll be working to deliver in coming years. Next on our list is re-evaluating our online banking platform.”

Thus far, reactions to the new mobile app launch on social media have been positive, with members particularly excited about fingerprint authentication.

“That was the only thing I was missing from you,” said Alliant member and Facebook fan Sebastian Ramirez.
