Alliant Credit Union Celebrates 75th Anniversary

10/26/2010

On October 26 Alliant Credit Union celebrated its 75th Anniversary at its headquarters in Chicago and additional locations in the Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay and Washington, DC areas. Festivities included special gift basket raffles and refreshments for Alliant members. In addition, month-long registration continued for the 75th Anniversary Celebration prize drawing, with three lucky winners receiving either $7,500, $750 or $75.

Alliant began in 1935 as United Air Lines Employees' Credit Union. For most of its history, the credit union offered financial services exclusively to United Airlines employees, retirees and their family members. In 2003 it became Alliant Credit Union, with membership available through Alliant sponsor organizations around the country. Today, in addition to United Airlines, Alliant sponsors include Kaiser Permanente, Takeda Pharmaceuticals and Orphan Foundation of America, among 140 organizations whose employees or members can join Alliant. "Individuals living or working in 19 suburban Chicago communities near O'Hare International Airport can also join our credit union," explained Alliant President and CEO David W. Mooney.

Alliant is America's seventh largest credit union based on asset size, with assets of over $7 billion. The credit union has nearly 260,000 members. Mr. Mooney attributes the credit union's longevity, growth and overall success to effectively providing its members with consistently superior financial value and helpful, knowledgeable and memorable service. "As a member-owned cooperative Alliant's sole purpose is to serve our members' individual and collective interests", he added.
