Alliant employees down chili and don red…raise money for two charities

Alliant Credit Union conducted two fundraising events in the first quarter of 2014, resulting in sizable donations for two outstanding charities, according to Alliant President & CEO David Mooney.

The events were Alliant Super Bowl Chili Day, benefitting Bears Care, a Chicago Bears charity; and Alliant Wear Red Day, which raised money for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign. Both were planned by the credit union’s Civic Affairs Committee.

Alliant Super Bowl Chili Day, an annual charity initiative, was held Wednesday, January 29. “Money was raised for Bears Care via employee donations for a chili lunch and other activities related to the event,” explained Mr. Mooney. In addition, Alliant Credit Union Foundation made a generous grant to the charity. The total amount donated was just under $8,000. Bears Care is committed to improving the quality of life for people in the Chicagoland community, especially disadvantaged children and their families.

Alliant Wear Red Day, a new initiative at the credit union, was held Friday, February 28. It was patterned after the American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day, to raise awareness and money in the fight against heart disease in women. Alliant’s Foundation donated $10 on behalf of each of the 242 Alliant employees nationwide who participated by wearing red the day of the event for a total donation of nearly $2,500 for this cause.
