Alliant responds and delights members with ATM Rebates

01/21/2015

Responding to member feedback and the increasing fees charged by ATM owners, Alliant Credit Union recently introduced ATM Rebates. Alliant will reimburse their checking account holders up to $20 per month in ATM fees.

Alliant regularly surveys its members to assess their satisfaction and likelihood to recommend Alliant. “We noticed an uptick in comments about ATM fees” said David Mooney, President & CEO of Alliant. “We assigned an internal cross-functional team to address the matter and ended up not just satisfying our members, but delighting them when we introduced our new ATM Rebate benefit.” Alliant had already been offering its members access to 80,000 surcharge-free ATMs, and still does. The new ATM rebate program for checking accountholders is an additional benefit. According to Mooney, members and prospective members have taken notice, responding with “5 Star” ratings on Alliant’s website and an outpouring of positive comments on Alliant’s Facebook and Twitter channels and on financial blogs.

“We provide employee financial benefits and wellness programs primarily to large regional and national employers; their employees are upwardly mobile and geographically dispersed and as such are convenience and value driven. By adding reimbursement for out-of-network ATM use, we give employees at these companies greater convenience and access to their funds, plus a substantial savings in fees – up to $240 per year. It’s a win-win for employers and their employees who are members of Alliant.”

Alliant plans to continue using its relationship and transaction surveys plus social media channel monitoring to tackle improvements in mobile banking, online lending and member service.
