How can I protect myself against current scams? We’ve been made aware of two scams that have been greatly impacting households nationwide. We’re committed to providing you with knowledge to detect and report fraudulent activity so you can protect your finances. Be aware of the Amazon® and Apple® scams: Members are reporting unsolicited calls, emails and texts from fraudsters claiming to be from the Amazon or Apple iCloud security departments. Scammers have been claiming there is “an issue” with customers’ accounts, recent purchases or an upcoming delivery. Fraudsters are requesting remote access to customers’ computers or cell phones to “assist” with correcting the “issues.” Protect your accounts against fraud: Never give anyone access to manipulate your computer, tablet, or phone screens – known as “remote access” – unless you have initiated and verified the assistance. Do not log into your online or mobile banking accounts while receiving remote access help. Technology assistants will never ask you to purchase gift cards, ask for personal or private information, or request upfront payment for their service. How to report a scam: Please report any suspicious activity to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at www.reportfraud.ftc.gov. Never hesitate to reach out to Alliant if something seems fishy regarding any calls, letters or emails you receive about your Alliant accounts.
