At Alliant, children under 13 years old can have a kids savings account with a parent or legal guardian as a joint owner. Teens 13-17 years old can have a regular Alliant High-Rate Savings account but must have a parent or legal guardian as a joint owner until they’re 18 years old. If you have a credit freeze, you may need to lift it to open a savings account because the credit union or bank may run a soft credit pull to verify your identity. A soft pull will not impact your credit score. If you’re opening a savings account at your current credit union or bank, the above information usually isn’t needed to verify your identity. You could open an account by logging into your online banking.
