What is a debit card?

A debit card is a payment card that deducts funds directly from your checking account when it's used. Also called "check cards" or "bank cards," they can be used to purchase goods and services, or you can use them at an ATM to withdraw cash or transact with your checking or savings account.

With an Alliant Checking Account Visa® debit card, you can make purchases anywhere Visa is accepted – or use it to withdraw, transfer, or deposit money through our huge ATM network. Traveling internationally? You can also use your Alliant Visa debit card abroad. You'll be charged only 1% by Visa (their International Service Assessment fee, referenced as the foreign transaction fee on account statements) for foreign transactions – far less than the 3% that major banks may charge.
