Alliant Credit Union Named to Companies That Care Honor Roll
April 28, 2014 | Alliant Credit Union
Alliant Credit Union was recently named to the 2014 Honor Roll of Center for Companies That Care. “I’m proud to say that this is the third consecutive year that Alliant has received this honor,” said the credit union's President & CEO David Mooney.
Center for Companies That Care’s Honor Roll is a national list recognizing employers for socially responsible workplace practices and active community involvement. It celebrates U.S.-based organizations of all sizes in diverse industries. The 2014 Honor Roll includes privately held and publicly traded organizations as well as not-for-profit employers representing multiple industries and states.
Mr. Mooney added, “As a member-owned cooperative, Alliant’s primary purpose is to serve our members, but we also strive to extend the same advocacy focus to our employees and our local communities.”
Alliant, through the Alliant Credit Union Foundation and employee activities organized by the credit union’s Civic Affairs Committee, supports a broad variety of charitable organizations and good causes, including financial literacy education for women veterans and in area schools.
“Honor Roll employers are best in class,” said Marci Koblenz, Center for Companies That Care co-founder and president. “Their daily practices within their organizations and in the community affirm business as a valuable contributor to society. A company that cares is attuned to all of its constituents, making business decisions that take into account the human toll and help others achieve professional as well as personal goals. Without a doubt, organizations selected to the Honor Roll are companies that care.”
Honor Roll employers are selected based on how they demonstrate the 10 Characteristics of Socially Responsible Employers, along with employee survey results. All Honor Roll employers adhere to these 10 Characteristics:
- Sustain a work environment founded on dignity and respect for all employees
- Make employees feel their jobs are important
- Cultivate the full potential of all employees
- Encourage individual pursuit of work/life balance
- Enable the well-being of individuals and their families through compensation, benefits, policies and practices
- Develop great leaders, at all levels, who excel at managing people as well as results
- Appreciate and recognize the contributions of employees
- Establish and communicate standards for ethical behavior and integrity
- Get involved in community endeavors and/or public policy
- Consider the human toll when making business decisions
Each spring, the Center for Companies That Care’s Honor Roll is announced in conjunction with the launch of CAREDAYS, a national initiative to address a significant societal issue. This year’s initiative, CAREDAYS14: Terrific Tales, focuses on childhood literacy.
