Fixed-rate loans provide peace-of-mind from knowing your rate is locked in for your entire 15- or 30-year term – your monthly payment won’t change. Adjustable-rate mortgages (ARM) have lower payments in the beginning so you can take care of other necessary expenses, like furniture for your new home.
The shorter the loan term, the less you will pay in interest over the long run, but the larger the monthly payment will be. Keep in mind that even with an Alliant 30-year Fixed-Rate Mortgage Loan, there are no penalties for paying ahead of your payment schedule, so choosing a 30-year loan but making larger-than-scheduled payments could be a good compromise option.
With an adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM), monthly payments can change after a specific amount of time, according to your loan structure. However, Alliant ARMs have a cap to prevent a drastic payment increase. Talk with an Alliant home loan specialist to make sure you understand how your payment can change over time.

I am a first time home buyer! I was casually looking for places near my area and what I could afford. Based on anecdotes I have heard, I just assumed that I did not have enough for a downpayment.
Mike and Alliant CU made this pipe dream a reality, thanks to their first home owner program. I paid 0% down and am not paying PMI. I am yet to come across anyone who has got this deal. Mike was thoroughly helpful throughout the process, when I had to ask him many simple questions regarding real estate, taxes, closing etc.
The seller was not very easy to work with. We had to move closing a couple of times and Mike and team were more than a pleasure to work with. Unlike other home buying experiences, the bank was the best resource in this deal. Most straight forward and most responsive. Highly recommend this CU to anyone looking for a mortgage.

We just purchased our first home via Alliant and Tom. Not having gone through the process, but having heard plenty of horror stories, we were a bit nervous and really didn't know what to expect. Tom remained engaged through the full process, even when certain functions were clearly handled by other people on his team. Overall, it was a smooth process, but Tom was there whenever anything odd came up or if something didn't make sense. His sense of urgency matched ours and he responded out of normal office hours to some critical questions, which gave us huge peace of mind.
