Over all I thought the representatives I spoke to were professional and helpful.
The website has no information about their conditions to purchase a used car. After 40 minutes on the phone, I discovered ALL their used car loans were only available for a car 9 yrs old and newer. There may be additional conditions but that was the one I needed to hear and moved on.
I wrote a review here yesterday, I would like to amend with this:
Initially I wrote a review when I was frustrated with the amount of time it was taking to process an auto loan. For that reason, and because of a mistake linking accounts, I give 4 instead of 5 stars.
I wanted to update that I received excellent customer service, and got the loan I was quoted at the rate I was quoted. I especially want to thank Brenita N., my loan officer, and Scott P., the manager who helped me; both were extremely kind and accommodating during the loan process. The benefit of going with a credit union over a traditional bank is the personal, caring service, and not merely a bank trying to hit you up with high interested rates. My experience during this car loan process was that the people at Alliant were there to help me, and to get the lowest possible rates for my individual situation. Their primary objective is facilitating the process of affordable lending, and not merely extracting a profit from you.
I highly recommend Alliant and their excellent team.
I have financed two cars with Alliant and they have an awesome % rate. Both my cars are paid in full and Alliant was quick in providing me with the pink slips. Things don't get better than Alliant.
My husband and I received an approval email stating that we are approved for 2.24% (used car) for 55K although we requested for 30K and rate is good for 30 days. We have excellent rating (over 800 Fico score). Anyhow, 1 week later, we purchased a car and provided the purchase agreement to our loan agent which was much less than 20K. Upon receiving the e-load doc for financing, we discovered the rate was now changed to 5.24 and our loan agent was not informed. We asked what happened and was told that the manager stated that because it was an older car (2006), it was a higher rate. First of all, none of this was stated on their auto loan website and additionally, it was confirmed by the loan agent that it wasn't written anywhere on the loan site or in her documents that rate would be higher if car was older than 9 years old. We suspect that because we did not want to finance a large amount, the underwriter manager wanted to ripe us off.
On their auto loan site, they offer a lower rate if you buy from their "partner" site at 1.74% and there are many cars listed on this site that was older then our 2006 so how were they going to offer that rate if purchased from that site if they can't even stand by their offer of an approved 2.24 on their bank site? A complete financial fraud and pulling a yo-yo scam on the interest rate on consumer!
To anyone who is thinking of financing with Alliant for their used auto, please beware. Although we received an email offer of the rate and amount, it appears that we are now battling with management to get this resolved. Additionally, it is a challenge to get any response from their loan department and right now, we currently have an option loan with the dealership which expires on Friday. We plan to seek legal advise to get this resolve since we already purchased a car that can't be return and both dealership and this bank interest rate is way too high...especially for our fico score. We would not have moved forward with the purchase if we knew this was going to happen.
Alliant Edit: While there was an initial miscommunication regarding her rate, this member did receive the initial rate of 2.24% APR that she was quoted.
I am absolutely thrilled with Alliant Credit Union...Alliant was swift with an approval for less than 6% and handled everything quickly and professionally! I could not be happier with them. I just paid off the loan by trading in for a new vehicle and went with Chrysler Financial because they offered an additional $1500 rebate for doing so, but I plan to refi with Alliant in about 6 months...Thank you Alliant for giving us a chance!
Be aware that there are to many people involved, all very nice on the phone and in person. But getting a "follow-up" or someone to call or email you back is like pulling a tooth. Even after they continually say they will "call you back". They don't. Great rates, but after several times, I just gave up and went with another "real" bank.
It was terrific. everything went smooth and it reduced the time in the auto showroom by at least 50% because I got my extended warranty and other extras right thru ACU.
Decided to purchase a new Truck. Call Credit union and received pre approval. Went to dealer Agreed on price,he faxed paper work to Credit union, drove away in new vehicle. Quick and easy
Entire process absolutely painless. Phoned in, told him what I needed, sent in the requested docs, and had the money in my account the next day. Easiest auto loan I ever obtained, abd the rate was much lower than my long term bank. I will be moving all of my accounts to Alliant. Thanks!
